May 25, 2016 – “Changing Norms: How Not to be a Small Fishing Town with a Large Drinking Problem”
This program will share some data on high school binge drinking behavior –and known risk factors. Together we will discuss what parents can do to model responsible drinking, and teach kids about the consequences of alcohol use and abuse, Also, tangible ideas for how to talk with other adults surrounding this cultural issue. June 7, 2016 – Guiding Good Choices Alumni Evening
To date over 150 Situate families have taken the GGC program. Guiding Good Choices facilitators will lead graduates of the GGC program in a refresher course. The event will also be an opportunity for these families to connect with each other. June 7, 2016, Maritime Center 6:30-8:00pm. May 3, 2016 – South Shore Peer Recovery Monthly Community Meeting and Celebration
Join volunteers and community members for coffee and desserts. SSPR has updates to share on the progress of our new Peer Recovery organization. Plus volunteer opportunities, and a chance to participate in the discussion about how we can recover together. Anyone that has been impacted by addiction, individuals in recovery, family members, and friends from all communities on the South Shore are welcome to attend a Community Meeting on the first Tuesday of each month. May 17, 2016 – Plymouth County Speaks Up Against Drugs 2016 Annual Conference: The Role of Educators in the Opioid Crisis.
Topics this year will include: Addiction + Families, Drug Endangered Children, Trauma Informed Schools, Recovery Education, Child Protections and Juvenile Courts, SBIRT. 8:30am-3:00pm.
